On Birthdays

What is it about a birthday that actually makes it a day worthy of celebration?

The fact that you have been able to get out of bed and breathe and walk and talk for 365 days in a row?

That you made “another trip around the sun?”

Doesn’t that last question just imply that in the grand scheme of things, your birthday is utterly meaningless because at the end of the day, we are all just a vehicle of molecules and blood cells and bones stuck on a floating, rotating ball of rock and gas and ice that is orbiting a star in perpetuity?
